SEDFA advisers and an entrepreneur discussing integrated small-business support

The Small Enterprise Development and Finance Agency (SEDFA) was established on 1 October 2024 as a Schedule 2 public entity under the Department of Small Business Development (DSBD).

The merger of the Small Enterprise Finance Agency (sefa), Small Enterprise Development Agency (Seda), and Cooperative Banks Development Agency (CBDA) creates a single, integrated agency to provide comprehensive financial and non-financial support to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and cooperatives across all nine provinces of South Africa.

SEDFA is mandated to provide targeted financial assistance, business development services, and capacity building programmes to foster the growth and sustainability of small enterprises, contributing to inclusive economic growth, job creation, and transformation.
